Tim and Keeley tied the knot at the beautiful Nethway Hotel in Torquay, and I was lucky enough to be there to capture it all. As always, I arrived super early, using the time to photograph all the little details that make each wedding unique. I started with the reception room and the outdoor ceremony setup, then moved on to the flowers and all the finishing touches the couple had lovingly chosen.
Before the ceremony began, guests started to arrive and I switched into candid mode, capturing all those natural, heartwarming moments as hugs and laughter filled the garden. The vibe was relaxed, summery and full of smiles. The Nethway Hotel is a nice venue and a really nice outdoor ceremony area!
Bridal prep was already in full swing when I headed inside. There were lots of make-up shots as the final touches went on. Then came the part of the day that always gives me a little anxiety; the wedding dress shot. Getting the dress in a beautiful position without knocking anything over or getting tangled in string lights is always a challenge, but we got there. The nerves always vanish once the dress is back on its hanger.
A few bridal portraits later, I took my position by the groom to capture the arrival of the bridal party. As the bride walked in, you could see the emotion hit Tim like a wave. I was right in the action, catching his reaction, her smile and that wonderful mix of nerves and excitement that kicks off every ceremony.
This was also a wedding of firsts. It was my first time working with a content creator, and shout out to Steve Parr from Eye in the Sky Torbay. He was there capturing reels and drone footage. I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous having someone else moving around during key moments, but Steve was fantastic. A total professional, completely in sync with what I needed, and not once in the way. We got on brilliantly, so much so he’s now listed as one of my optional extras for couples who want social media content or aerial footage on their big day.
After the ceremony, the afternoon flowed with bubbles, formal group shots and so many candids. Everyone was chilled and happy, the weather was playing ball and the vibe stayed joyful throughout.
During dinner, I was treated to my own little private spot and a roast beef dinner. Always appreciated!
Then came the speeches. Wow. Emotional, heartfelt and absolutely hilarious. But it was their daughter Ella who completely stole the show. Her speech had everyone laughing and crying. It was a standout moment and honestly one of the best I’ve heard. She absolutely nailed it and left everyone grinning.
After speeches I grabbed Tim and Keeley for a few more portraits in the soft evening light. Then it was back in for the cake cut and first dance. They nailed both, and the dance floor quickly filled with family and friends ready to party the night away.
All in all, Tim and Keeley’s day was warm, relaxed and full of laughter, just like them. It was a genuine pleasure to be part of it and I left the Nethway with a happy heart.
