Turning 50 in Style – A Golden Birthday Bash at Berry Head Hotel, Brixham

There’s something special about a 50th birthday. It’s the halfway point (if we’re optimistic), the perfect blend of wisdom and energy, and definitely a milestone worth celebrating in style. So when I was booked to photograph a surprise 50th birthday party at the stunning Berry Head Hotel in Brixham, Devon, I knew it was going to be a night to remember – both for the guests, and for my memory cards.

Farewell to Larkbeare House: A Wedding Photographer’s Last Shoot at an Exeter Gem

Larkbeare House in Exeter has long been a favourite wedding venue of mine. With its stunning gardens, elegant architecture, and intimate charm, it has provided the perfect backdrop for countless beautiful weddings. But this one was bittersweet. It was one of the last weddings ever to be held at Larkbeare House before it is sold. As I photographed the day, I couldn’t help but reflect on all the memories I’d captured there over the years.

Celebrating One Year of DaysDayOut: A Graffiti Tunnel Revisit

One year ago, I launched my YouTube channel, DaysDayOut, not knowing just how much it would grow in such a short time. Now, with almost 900 subscribers and more than 100 local riders in the Instagram group, the community around these 125cc (and increasingly bigger) bike ride-outs has become something truly special. What better way to mark this milestone than by recreating one of my very first videos; the graffiti tunnel photoshoot in Newton Abbot?

Capturing a Silver Wedding Anniversary at The Cary Arms, Babbacombe

A silver wedding anniversary is a milestone worth celebrating in style, and what better place to do it than at The Cary Arms in Babbacombe, Torquay? With its stunning views over Babbacombe Bay and a cosy, intimate atmosphere, it made for the perfect setting for this special occasion. I was hired to photograph this two-hour event, and with my cameras in hand, I was ready to tackle the challenging lighting conditions and capture the magic of the evening.

Photographing Jack and the Beanstalk: Behind the Lens of a Theatre Photographer

Last Christmas, I had the privilege of photographing a professional production of Jack and the Beanstalk at the Princess Theatre in Torquay, Devon. This wasn’t just any shoot; it was a dress rehearsal, held in an empty theatre the day before the show’s grand opening. For theatre photographers, dress rehearsals are a lovely treat. They allow us to work without the distraction of an audience, capturing every magical moment in a controlled setting. Armed with my trusty gear and the excitement of the season, I dove into one of the most rewarding shoots of my career.

My Favourite wedding photos of 2024, and how I took those shots.

What a year it’s been! 2024 was packed with beautiful venues, incredible couples, and more confetti than I care to count. As we approach the end of the year, I’ve been reflecting on my favourite moments, venues, and of course, the gear that helped make those moments truly shine.

Capturing Love at the Bickley Mill Inn: A Joyful Lesbian Wedding

There’s something special about photographing a wedding, but there’s an extra spark when it’s an intimate celebration like the one I recently had the pleasure of capturing for Lynsey and Anna. They chose the Bickley Mill Inn in Stoneycombe, Newton Abbot, a charming spot nestled in the Devon countryside. With only 25 of their nearest and dearest gathered, it felt like the sort of cozy affair where everyone knows everyone else’s name, and by the end, I think I did too!
