It’s that time of year again! Jordan Productions invited me back to photograph the dress rehearsal for their 2025 Christmas Pantomime, but this time there was a little twist; they also wanted a full day of promotional photos and plenty of behind-the-scenes coverage. Having worked with them before, they knew exactly what they wanted, and it was a pleasure to be asked again.

All the stars arrived for one day only, but there was never any pressure. Alex from Jordan Productions had everything timed to perfection, with a clear plan of which shots were needed, where they were happening, and when. Just how I like it! With a solid plan in place, we moved efficiently through the day and got every image we needed without a single delay.

I started off the morning capturing a few fun and natural shots of the cast getting ready; make-up being applied, costumes being adjusted, and everyone buzzing with energy before the big day. From there, we headed inside the Princess Theatre in Torquay, where I took a few portraits and candid moments to capture the spirit of the panto season.

After that, it was time to relocate to Torre Abbey, which turned out to be the perfect backdrop for this year’s production of Sleeping Beauty. The gardens and old stone walls provided the perfect fairytale atmosphere. We got some lovely formal portraits of the cast in character, followed by a mix of lighthearted behind-the-scenes photos as they laughed and joked between takes.

Then it was back to the Princess Theatre for one last, rather memorable setup. One of the event sponsors, a local hotel, had requested a promotional photo of the cast on a bed outside the theatre. The only problem? The first storm of autumn had just rolled in. At one point, there were four people holding down sheets, pillows and blankets as the wind tried to blow them halfway to Brixham! Despite the chaos, we got the shot, and it turned out brilliantly.

The rest of the day was a mix of promo photos and more behind-the-scenes coverage, finishing up just as the rain really started coming down. Everything was edited and delivered within 24 hours, which is pretty standard for me, but still always a nice surprise for clients.
