A Wedding Photographer’s Tale at Rockbeare Manor, Exeter

My very first ever Wedding (back in February 2018) was as a second photographer at the Rockbeare Manor. That first time I was full of nerves, worries, and apprehension. It was so wonderful to be back there for this wedding. Let’s dive in and see how the day unfolded.

Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Exeter, Devon, Rockbeare Manor stands as an epitome of grandeur and romance. For any wedding photographer, this historic manor house provides the perfect backdrop for capturing moments of love, joy, and elegance. It was a real privilege to witness and document a celebration that was as unique as it was beautiful.

There was a bright red surprise pulling up after the speeches, so let’s take a took at some of the photos my Son and I captured on this special day.

The sprawling lawns, manicured gardens, and the majestic façade of the manor house offered endless opportunities for capturing exquisite photographs. This was needed as I had never been so busy capturing so many group and couple shots. Every person wanted their own photos with the stunning backdrops Rockbeare offers. I was thankful my Son William was second shooting so he could capture all those emotional candid moments, while I went through the queue of people wanting shots.

A Touch of Luxury

One of the standout moments of this wedding was when the bride’s mother surprised everyone by arranging for a vibrant red convertible Ferrari to make an appearance after the speeches. The juxtaposition of this luxurious car against the backdrop of Rockbeare Manor was nothing short of cinematic. With the sun lowering to give beautiful soft light, I had the opportunity to capture the couple, radiant in their happiness, standing next to the Ferrari. The resulting photographs were not just images; they were visual narratives of a moment in time, filled with excitement and opulence. I had a single strobe light to help make the Bride, Groom, and Ferrari pop that little bit more.

Golden Hour Magic

As the day transitioned into evening, I took the couple for a walk around the grounds of Rockbeare Manor to capture the golden hour. The soft, warm light of the setting sun cast a magical glow over the manor’s façade and the surrounding landscape. I seized the opportunity to capture intimate and tender moments that would be cherished for a lifetime. The vibrant hues of the sunset created a truly enchanting backdrop, making for some of the most breathtaking photographs of the day.

Embracing the Romance

Rockbeare Manor, with its elegant interiors and timeless ambiance, provided the perfect setting for capturing the romance between the newlyweds. Every corner of the manor seemed to whisper stories of love, and I made sure to document these moments. From stolen glances, the laughs, the tears, the hugs, the smiles, we captured images that everyone has loved.

Conclusion

Being a wedding photographer at Rockbeare Manor was a surreal experience. The combination of the venue’s grandeur, the couple’s love, and the unexpected addition of the Ferrari made this wedding truly unforgettable. Rockbeare Manor, with its timeless charm, proved to be the perfect muse, allowing me to create a visual story that celebrated love, luxury, and the beauty of a perfect day.

In the heart of Devon, amidst the rolling hills and historic charm, Rockbeare Manor stands as a testament to the elegance of a bygone era.

For me, as a wedding photographer, it will always remain a cherished memory, a place where my very first dreams of being a wedding photographer came to life all those years back, and where love was immortalized through the lens of my camera.
