Becky and Olumide celebrated their wedding with a ceremony at the Municipal Buildings, Taunton Register Office, followed by a lively reception at the Rumwell Farm Shop. The day began with bridal prep at a nearby Airbnb, setting the scene for what would turn into a truly memorable and emotional celebration.

This was a mixed-race Nigerian wedding, and it had all the colour, culture, and energy you’d expect. Things didn’t start entirely to plan though, Olumide was running late by almost half an hour. For a moment, it was touch and go whether the ceremony would even go ahead. You could feel the nerves in the air, but thankfully, once he arrived, everything proceeded beautifully.

After the ceremony, the couple were showered with confetti before releasing two white doves into the sky, a first for me to capture. I’m so glad I worked entirely in manual mode for that moment, as it meant I nailed the exposure and focus despite the fast action. It was a special detail that added a unique touch to their day.

The reception at Rumwell Farm Shop was simply stunning. The room was dressed to perfection, and although the rain poured down outside, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. The joy, laughter, and energy of the day carried through every moment.

Cultural Highlights

What made this wedding stand out was the way Nigerian culture was woven into the celebrations. The atmosphere was lively, warm, and full of life, with music, laughter, and storytelling playing a central role. The food was another highlight. Olumide generously let me try some of the spicy chicken and rice they’d brought with them, and it was bursting with flavour. It wasn’t just food, it was part of their heritage being shared with everyone in the room.

The bright colours, the dancing, and the sense of community made this celebration so much more than just a wedding. It was a fusion of two families, two cultures, and two people starting their journey together, and it was a privilege to capture every moment.

Rain or not, Becky and Olumide’s wedding was filled with emotion, laughter, and love, the kind of wedding you don’t forget.
