Beautiful April Wedding Photography at the Huntsham Court Country House in Devon

When I first saw photos of this venue, I was excited to photograph a wedding there. Dale and Ami were an incredibly relaxed couple who knew exactly what they wanted. The day was perfect!

The Huntsham Court Country House is situated near Tiverton in Mid Devon. It is an hour’s drive from where I live. I forwarned Dale and Ami that I’d be arriving early to cover any problems I may face getting to the venue. I ended up there Two hours early.

I use that time to take photographs of the venue, the grounds, and also the wedding guests that had stayed the night before. None of that time was wasted. I use it to also test if there will be any issues with LED lighting, go through the day and generally get fully prepped for the day ahead.

Clare was the wedding coordinator for the venue. upon arriving, she immediately showed us around the building, the grounds, and the rooms. Her help and friendly nature made our experience as the Wedding Photographers, that much more relaxed. Clare, if you read this, thank you for everything you did, you are a credit to the house!

Let’s look at some examples from the day…

I ended up delivering just shy of 700 photos. There were a lot of smiles and emotions, so this was reflected in the number of photos we delivered. My Son William was my second photographer and having him allowed us to capture multiple angles and more special moments.

The sun was out, the day was warm. By late afternoon a soft haze filled the sky, which also softened the light on the wedding couple and guests.

The wedding ceremony took place outside. This was a beautiful setting for the ceremony. The walk to the Aisle went down some amazing stairs, which we had to capture, and a lovely walk along the grounds to the ceremony area.

The big group shot was set-up on the main lawn. I could stand slightly elevated to everyone else, which allowed me to capture the people in the back as well. The formals and requests were all taken on either the semi-circular seat beside the main grounds, or the ceremony spot itself.

I knew I wanted to light the couple a specific way for the first dance. I wanted one of my lights between them and in the background. I was really happy with how it turned out.
