Model photoshoot at Meadfoot in Torquay, Devon.

There are ‘out of the way’ places that our tourists tend to miss, but the locals know how much beauty those hidden places hold. There are few places better for the model photoshoot I had in mind than the place we went to.

Meadfoot in Torquay is situation between Torquay harbourside and Babbacombe. It’s a good spot for sea fishing but it is also a location that has great photography backdrops for photoshoots.

My model for the day, Paige, is someone I’ve worked with before. She knows my style of photography and I know how good she is at posing. Paige knows that I use lighting, so it’s always nice when the person understands the set-up process and can work with it.

The Photoshoot

On the coast path between Meadfoot beach and Daddyhole plain is a beauty-spot with amazing views and the most amazing bench in Torbay. I’ve been wanting to take some model photos there for a long time so I finally got my chance 🥳

Just down from there are the relatively new beach huts. The best time to have these as a backdrop is out of season. Even we had to go towards the end of the huts as, even in March, there were a fair few being used. I really love the colours of the beach huts against the dress Paige was wearing…

As you can see from the behind the scenes, social distancing was easy because of the telephoto lens being used. For the viewpoint shot, I was still a few metres away from Paige so I could get the entire view in the frame.
