Picture a hot June day with the sun beaming down, casting its hazy glow over a picturesque countryside setting. The Bickley Mill Inn in Newton Abbot provided the perfect backdrop for a truly enchanting wedding celebration. I had the honor of capturing the most treasured moments of the day, from the radiant bride’s preparation to the heartfelt ceremony, accompanied by delightful confetti showers and group captures. As the day unfolded, I led the newlyweds to the charming old barn above the car park, where rustic elegance embraced their love. Let me take you on a journey through the day.
The excitement, anticipation, and relative calm filled the air as I stepped into the bridal suite. The bride’s room was adorned with delicate flowers and soft, flowing fabrics. The bride, surrounded by her closest friends and family, was enjoying every moment. Having been here for Bridal prep before I already knew about the hooks on the balcony which provided the perfect spot to photograph the dress and shoes. Inside the room, the natural light was so nice, I just needed a small amount of my own lighting to make the people in the room pop that little bit more.
The first look with the Bridesmaids, Flowergirls and page boy was an emotional moment for everyone. The look on their faces was truly magical. I was so happy to be there to capture that moment.
Inside the Bickley Mill Inn’s ceremony room, I immediately noticed that the room was arranged differently from the times I had been there before. Instead of the chairs going down the length of the room, they were arranged along the width of the room. The staff said this is quite unusual but it is how they are able to fit in slightly larger numbers.

I had my son William with me as my second shooter. Because of him, I was able to provide almost a third more photos, as well as get different angles and more candid photos than they would have had otherwise.
The room was tastefully decorated, reflecting the couple’s unique style. The soft melodies of a heartfelt song filled the air as the groom awaited his bride. The beaming smiles and teary eyes of the guests created an emotional ambiance. The couple exchanged vows, promising to love and cherish each other for a lifetime, while their loved ones looked on with heartfelt joy.
Stepping outside onto the inviting decking, a welcoming roof protecting us all from the increasingly hot day, the afternoon provided the perfect setting for the confetti celebration. The colorful confetti danced through the air, symbolizing the start of a new chapter filled with love and happiness.
