Another amazing wedding at Larkbeare House, plus Exeter University

It’s remarkable just how many weddings I’m photographing at Larkbeare House in Exeter, Devon. This Brides dress is possibly the best I’ve seen yet and Exeter University was a great backdrop for some of the following photos…

I was contacted via Instagram to see if I could be an emergency wedding photographer, to cover another wedding photographer who had to self isolate. With just a week to organise, and Christmas in the middle of that week, it was still easily organised and no problem to sort out.

There were three locations. The first was the witnesses home for just 10 minutes of prep, then Exeter University for some of the formals and finally Larkbeare House for the ceremony.

As you can probably tell, I used my own lighting in many of the shots. The group shots especially look so creamy and enhanced by the lighting I was using. It slows things down a little because it needs to be set-up, but the results more than make up for that extra time.

The couple told me beforehand that I wasn’t allowed inside for the ceremony due to Covid-19 so they were expecting no photos of it. The thing is, I know the venue well and I noticed that their ceremony was going to be held in one of the ground floor rooms. Although the ceremony was never part of the day for me, I wouldn’t be a good wedding photographer if I didn’t seize this chance to photograph their ceremony anyway.

I stood outside, pointed my camera through the closed window and started to photograph it. The glass was dirty, there were reflections as well, but I managed to get the ring shots, first kiss and the emotions of that room, even stood outside in the cold, photographing through a dirty window.

When I photographed my previous wedding at Larkbeare House I said it would be hard to beat photographing a ceremony through an open window. Well, this time, to make it more difficult, I was photographing through a closed window. So again, I think this now the one that will be difficult to beat in terms of how unusual it was 😀

They were SO happy that I still got the ceremony. I was so happy I could do that for them when they were expecting nothing. If I can go that extra mile I will.

I love being a wedding photographer. I cannot think of anything better. My love, passion and skills shine through because I enjoy it so much. If my style matches your dream and vision, I would love to have a chat with you!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We contacted Simon a week before our wedding as our previous photographer had a family emergency and could not attend anymore. Simon was incredibly professional in arranging all of the details ahead of time, even though it was so last minute. Even before meeting in person it was clear what a kind soul he is just from how he was communicating with us. He was incredibly punctual and took incredible shots. Honestly, the day felt a lot more complete with him around! He was so funny, spirited, and personable, he put everyone at ease. We shot at a location he’s never been to before and he managed to get STUNNING shots. The lighting he does is beyond amazing. Our friends and family cannot stop raving about our wedding photos. We got them so quickly too. Working with Simon was beyond what we imagined or hoped for our day. We cannot recommend him enough to anyone considering him for wedding photography (or any other photography really). If we could get married again just to have Simon for more time, we totally would!
