As with many other people, I am getting numerous calls about events and weddings coming up over the coming months. I want to reassure and update you…

Wedding photography at Greenway House, Galmpton
This weekend I photographed my first wedding of 2020 and what a start! Not one but two vintage Aston Martin’s as wedding cars. Combine that with having the ceremony at Agatha Christie’s house and you have the set-up for an amazing wedding ceremony!
Continue readingRustic ceremony at the CowShed, Millbrook, Cornwall
If you’re ever after a rustic venue, with lovely grounds and close to some nice coastal scenery, the Cow Shed at the Freathy Farmhouse in Cornwall is worth looking into.
Situated in Millbrook, the farmhouse is close to the Devon border so it was an easy drive from Torbay to the FarmHouse. The grounds are amazing and the people there are so kind. You’ll need to like dogs though, they have several, but those dogs are kept out of the way so you rarely see them.

There is something special about Holne Park House for a wedding. The rooms are light and airy. The grounds are spectacular. The location was a lovely place for this wedding photographer!
James & Kara were the Bride and Groom. Everyone made me feel welcome, including the staff at Holne Park House.

If you’ve never been to Lupton House in Brixham it is well worth a visit. Fancy a Wedding at Lupton House? I recommend it!
The grounds are beautiful with lots of places to have your wedding photos. On the day I was there photographing Sandie and Ray’s wedding, it was raining but that didn’t stop us or limit too much where to take the photos. There was just one shot the couple wanted that we couldn’t do because of the rain. Instead, we got creative and found plenty of other shots.

Choosing the perfect wedding photographer can be really difficult. Lots of people whittle down the list but still end up with half a dozen to choose from. These questions will whittle down your list even further…

Edit: To see my latest Larkbeare wedding, see: Another amazing wedding at Larkbeare House, plus Exeter University“
I went along as a second shooter yesterday and headed to Larkbeare House in Exeter, Devon. It’s surprising how many weddings I’m attending in Exeter 🌞
I enjoy being a second shooter because I can be more creative as I’m not giving all my attention to the Bride and Groom (That’s what the 1st photographer is doing).
Continue readingGroom Prep At Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon
Groom prep isn’t something that happens all that often but you miss an important part of the day that the bride and everyone else would never see.
I went along to the Dartington Hall in Totnes and take photos of the Groom prep. The sky was clear but it was warm, very warm, the hottest day of the year so far. The Groom and Groomsmen did well to keep cool. The shade was our best friend.
There is so much banter, laughter and nerves. It was an honour to capture Andy and his Groomsmen as they prepared for the wedding!

Another Wedding in Exeter, Devon…
Kevin and Shirley are two lovely, wonderful people and it was an absolute pleasure to be their wedding photographer yesterday.
The venue was the Gipsy Hill Hotel in Exeter. We arrived at 1pm (the ceremony was at 3.30pm). The great thing about the hotel is that it has plenty of parking and it is right outside the building. This makes wedding photographers very happy 😉
The bar area has been completely revamped and looks lovely! So much light, and nice light furniture. If the rain had stopped play, photographing inside would have been no problem at all.
As you can see from the photos, the room for the wedding is bright, light and ideal for a smaller wedding. The Gipsy Hill does have larger rooms, but I have to admit, I think this one is the brightest and best.
The good news was the sun was out, the warmth had returned and the day was about as perfect as it could be. The grounds were well kept and with those large trees, finding shady areas from the harsh sunlight was easy.
The Gipsy Hill Hotel laid out a fantastic spread with lots to choose from. The staff were all lovely and very helpful.

Phillip & Lauren – Wedding at the Hayloft, Cockington, Torquay
Cockington Court in Torquay, Devon, it a lovely location for a wedding. Last year a more intimate wedding venue opened up, called ‘The HayLoft‘. Situated by the glass blowing shop, this venue is absolutely ideal for those smaller weddings.
Don’t let the photos you see online fool you. The Hayloft is well lit, with two roof windows, lights and the old hay doors. It is perfect with weddings with less than 30 people.
The evening reception was held at the Thatched Tavern, in Maidencombe, Torquay. A lovely place, with lovely staff and everyone had a great time.
