An amazing day photographing a same sex Wedding in Exeter, Devon

I was very excited to be a wedding photographer at a same sex wedding. I loved every minute of it, what an amazing day it was. We instantly connected so those candid photos just kept on flowing all through the day.

I really do want to congratulate Sharon and Louise and their wedding at Froginwell Vineyard in Exeter, Devon on the 4th May 2019. It was a fantastic day for everyone!

We covered from ceremony to first dance. The weather was clear and mostly warm. The staff at Froginwell were fantastic to everyone, including me, so thank you Froginwell staff! The travel from Paignton to Exeter was really easy and we arrived nice and early which always enables us to capture the detail shots before everyone else starts to arrive.

The weather was so nice the ceremony was held outside. With the vineyard behind, the setting was lovely.

The entertainment outside was performed by the wonderful Liberty Sisters who performed brilliantly all afternoon.

Here is a small selection of images from the wedding day. For higher quality images please see my facebook page.

College photoshoot

For two days this week, I went to South Devon College to shoot the amazing results of the makeup students work on models for their exams. The models sat for up to 5-6 hours having their makeup and costumes put on and fitted. The models were all amazing and I’d like to say a big well done to them as well!

Day one was difficult because I was limited to one room with bad lighting. Day two I could choose a better location so the results were much better! As you can see, I was also photographed by Megan so thanks Megan 😀

Elements of Fire Devon, March 2019

I can’t think of anything more difficult to photograph than a fire juggler. The scene is pitch black, with quick bursts of very bright light from the flames. Trying to photograph the person, the flames and the ambience is incredibly difficult. This time I used a mix of flash and a beach bonfire to get these results…

A beautiful day photographing a wedding in Exeter, Devon.

The weather could not have been more delightful. If the wedding had been on either side of the Saturday it would have been snow or rain. As a second photographer, my role was to assist in capturing the wedding and to capture the big parts of the day at a different angle to the main photographer.

Here are some of my photos from Lee and Sophie’s wedding at Rockbeare Manor in Exeter. See my Facebook Album for more pictures from their lovely wedding day.

Torbay is such a lovely place to live

It’s been high tide at sunrise all week which makes it difficult to find a location with any foreground interest.

This morning I headed over to Anstey’s Cove in Torquay. This is a nice location because it has some rocks, the sun can glow nicely on the rocks and there are a few compositions. The sun remained firmly behind a thin band of cloud so no golden sun on the rocks this morning, but it sure did look and feel peaceful.

Have a great weekend everyone!

An epic sunrise in Paignton this morning…

The colours were exploding, the waves were crashing and the coffee was smashing 😀☕️😀

As soon as I woke up I could see that the colours were likely to explode in the sky. I grabbed a quick flask of coffee and headed down to Paignton Pier as quickly as possible. On arrival I was greeted with high waves, surfers and a few other photographers.

I’ve never had so many keeper shots in one session but out of them all, this one really stood out the most.

One of the best things about working in Devon

I loving living and working in Devon. When you go out and stretch your legs, you’re never quite sure what you might see while you’re out.

I went out yesterday afternoon and came across two seals, one of which was very interested in me and my camera…

When it comes to seals, you should never swim with them, feed them or try to disturb them. I was stood in one place and the seal came right up to me. I admit, I have never been this close before, but that is what makes living here so brilliant, lots of chances to get to experience the things you’d love to experience.

Paignton Regatta 2018 still has a few days left to go…

What a cracking week it has been at the Paignton Regatta. Last night there was Klassica and Wrong Jovi performing live on the Riviera FM stage. There was a huge turn out for this and it was a great evening of entertainment!

There is still a few tribute bands to go; Bee Gees, Take That and Elvis. Check the Paignton Regatta website for more details.

Here are a few of my photos from the evening…
