Bullies Out Mega Walk a success

How would fancy walking from Torre Abbey in Torquay, to Haytor on Dartmoor, and then back again? No, not me either 🙂

A massive congratulations to the team 34-12, who walked 34 miles in 12 hours for Bullies Out, an anti-bullying charity.

As someone who was bullied all through school, I was really happy to help by capturing the day with my cameras. At the time of writing, you can still donate to them via this link.

Here are some highlights of the day…

Phillip & Lauren – Wedding at the Hayloft, Cockington, Torquay

Cockington Court in Torquay, Devon, it a lovely location for a wedding. Last year a more intimate wedding venue opened up, called ‘The HayLoft‘. Situated by the glass blowing shop, this venue is absolutely ideal for those smaller weddings.

Don’t let the photos you see online fool you. The Hayloft is well lit, with two roof windows, lights and the old hay doors. It is perfect with weddings with less than 30 people.

The evening reception was held at the Thatched Tavern, in Maidencombe, Torquay. A lovely place, with lovely staff and everyone had a great time.

Lee and Hanna’s Ceremony – 25th May 2019

It was the perfect warm May day for a ceremony in Greenwich, London. The venue for the ceremony was the Church of our Layde Star of the Sea in Greenwich, with the reception being held at the Tudor barn Eltham, London.

With over one hundred guests this was a busy wedding with lots of emotions and joy. The church requested that I didn’t use any flash and I was to keep my distance, which I was happy to do. My telephoto lens made sure I was never too far away from anything that needed capturing.

The reception was amazing. The Tudor Barn looked amazing and the staff were incredible. The flowers by http://rachelmorganweddingflowers.co.uk/ were also of an incredibly high standard. I highly recommend them!

An amazing day photographing a same sex Wedding in Exeter, Devon

I was very excited to be a wedding photographer at a same sex wedding. I loved every minute of it, what an amazing day it was. We instantly connected so those candid photos just kept on flowing all through the day.

I really do want to congratulate Sharon and Louise and their wedding at Froginwell Vineyard in Exeter, Devon on the 4th May 2019. It was a fantastic day for everyone!

We covered from ceremony to first dance. The weather was clear and mostly warm. The staff at Froginwell were fantastic to everyone, including me, so thank you Froginwell staff! The travel from Paignton to Exeter was really easy and we arrived nice and early which always enables us to capture the detail shots before everyone else starts to arrive.

The weather was so nice the ceremony was held outside. With the vineyard behind, the setting was lovely.

The entertainment outside was performed by the wonderful Liberty Sisters who performed brilliantly all afternoon.

Here is a small selection of images from the wedding day. For higher quality images please see my facebook page.

College photoshoot

For two days this week, I went to South Devon College to shoot the amazing results of the makeup students work on models for their exams. The models sat for up to 5-6 hours having their makeup and costumes put on and fitted. The models were all amazing and I’d like to say a big well done to them as well!

Day one was difficult because I was limited to one room with bad lighting. Day two I could choose a better location so the results were much better! As you can see, I was also photographed by Megan so thanks Megan 😀

Elements of Fire Devon, March 2019

I can’t think of anything more difficult to photograph than a fire juggler. The scene is pitch black, with quick bursts of very bright light from the flames. Trying to photograph the person, the flames and the ambience is incredibly difficult. This time I used a mix of flash and a beach bonfire to get these results…

A beautiful day photographing a wedding in Exeter, Devon.

The weather could not have been more delightful. If the wedding had been on either side of the Saturday it would have been snow or rain. As a second photographer, my role was to assist in capturing the wedding and to capture the big parts of the day at a different angle to the main photographer.

Here are some of my photos from Lee and Sophie’s wedding at Rockbeare Manor in Exeter. See my Facebook Album for more pictures from their lovely wedding day.

New photo from Berry Head in Brixham

I’ve just added a new picture for sale, from a lovely coastal walk yesterday afternoon, around Berry Head in Brixham.

It was a lovely warm, still, sunny afternoon, very unexpected for January, but more so because there was a yellow weather warning for snow the following day. I was certainly not expecting it to be so pleasant up there.

Click on the photo to go visit the shop.

Berry Head in Brixham, Devon on a lovely sunny afternoon.

Berry Head is at the southern tip of Torbay and it commands extensive views of the western coastal approaches to the English Channel and of the Torbay harbourage.

Berry Head Lighthouse is an active lighthouse, located at the end of Berry Head near Brixham in Devon. It was originally built in 1906, and was then automated and converted to run on acetylene in 1921, and was modernised in 1994. Since then it has run on mains electricity.

Berry Head Fort was a heavily defended garrisoned fort built around a half moon coastal battery constructed on the main promontory of Berry Head at the turn of the 19th century. This was in response to the repeated threats of an invasion by the French under Napoleon Bonaparte.

While you’re exploring the area I recommend stopping off at the guard house cafe which is located in the area near the lighthouse.

Latest portrait session in Torquay

My daughter asked if I could take some photos for her social media. We first headed to Teignmouth and then Torquay, both lovely places for this type of work.

My daughter doesn’t like her photo being taken but she really helped interact with pose suggestions and she knew what she wanted.

The only pity was that she wanted to have her hand cover her mouth in most shots. It’s a snapchat thing 🙂

Here is a sample. If you fancy having your portrait taken in and around Torbay then please visit my photography page.
