I went back to the same location as the previous model photoshoot, to try some other spots in that location. In complete contrast to the photo shoot the other week, where it was drab grey and dull, this shoot was in the harsh, midday sun. How did it go?

Last weekend was the first time I had loaded up the car in quite a few weeks. It was exciting to be checking batteries, re-cleaning lenses, gear and sorting out what I would need for a photoshoot.
I have recently joined a local photography group on Facebook and I put out a post asking if people would be interested in a photoshoot revolving around Godox lighting. I needed a model plus an assistant and I was lucky enough to get both.
Continue reading18th Birthday party photography in Torquay, Devon
The weather held off just long enough for Summer’s 18th birthday party to be held outdoors. With 2 marques, a DJ booth, a huge BBQ and a bar, the Barton end of Torquay came alive with music, fun and laughter.
With a mixture of 3 lenses and a flash towards the end, they wanted a birthday photographer who could tell the story of her special day. I used a mixture of wide-angle, portrait and zoom lenses so I could capture the types of photos you can’t get on a phone.
If you have a Birthday, anniversary or event coming up and you like my style, I would love to have a chat with you about it, preferably over a coffee 😊

Cosplay photo shoot in Newton Abbot, Devon
Deadpool, A.K.A Sean, asked if I could collaborate on a photo shoot. I photographed Spiderman at my home studio just a couple of days before the lockdown. Sean was really keen to have his own session but we had to wait until the restrictions had started easing up. We met at the car park next to the Penn Inn roundabout and we shot in and around the tunnels under the roundabout.
The area was popular with cyclists, some tearing through the tunnels at max speed so for the most part we kept to one side and shot in the middle only when necessary for composition.
Deadpool brought a smile to several smaller faces, as well as some mid teen faces. He sure was popular with everyone coming through 🙂
I had with me my AD600 Pro and a parabolic softbox so I could light Sean even in harsh sunlight. I mostly used the 85mm 1.4 and a few from the 24-70mm 2.8. These lenses allowed me to keep 2-10 metres away from Sean for the entire shoot.
If you’d like your own photos, please get in touch.

Wedding Anniversary photoshoot at Oldway Mansion, Paignton
One year ago, at the Gipsy Hotel in Exeter, Kevin and Shirley were married. I cannot believe how quickly that year has gone by and also amazed at everything that’s happened to the planet since then.
They wanted a 1 year wedding anniversary photoshoot at the hotel but because of the lockdown, it wasn’t possible. Instead, I suggested the impressive Oldway Mansion in Paignton as the location for the shoot.
We met up precisely one year on and we went around the grounds, taking photos at different points. It was busy so I tried to position them in front of other people, or blurred out the background so nothing was a distraction.
Congratulations to you both!

Social distancing with telephoto lenses is actually very easy. My favourite portrait photography lenses are all lenses that require me to be from 3 metres to 15 metres away. Would you like a memento of these times, or maybe you need some new and exciting photos for your social media?
Your photoshoot can be on your doorstep, on location somewhere awesome or at my home studio with ample room for social distancing.
I will price this personal session for a set fee of £35 an hour. No extra charges or hidden costs. You will be sent the photos via wetransfer or googledrive within a day or two. Some basic enhancing will be done for all photos.
Contact me now via email or telephone 07828 467 753 to book your session.

Would you use photos that could put people off your business?
I see a company popping up on one of my social media channels quite often. I’d like to chat about how I think sometimes, photos can do more harm than good.
